Our story / The journey
Beginning
Vortman winery was founded in 2003 in Haifa, with the planting of 'Netiv Ofakim' Vineyard on Mt. Carmel slopes facing the Mediterranean sea.
The first years were dedicated to learning while wine production was made in the basement of the family house. 2007 was the first commercial vintage.
From the beginning, our aim was to make local wines from organic grapes we grow only in Mt. Carmel wine region.
Today
From 2009 we began planting vineyards in Shfeya valley and converting old vineyards to organic growing. Today we grow 10 acres of organic vineyards. In 2012 we built a modern winery in Haifa which produce 30,000 bottles a year. In 2014 we opened the tasting room near 'Netiv Ofakim' vineyard.
The whole process, from tending the vines to wine making, is done by the winery team. This unique fact allows us to make the highest quality wines without the need to compromise.
Wines & Vines
We produce a large selection of wines - white, rose & red, blends & varietals.
A main part of the winery's character is the ongoing process of searching grape varieties and production methods best suited for the Carmel region, aiming to make the highest quality wines.
The grape varieties we grow today:
Colombard, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc & Roussanne for white wines. Carignan, Malbec, Grenache, Merlot, Petit Verdot & mourvedre for red & rose wines.
